Optimization techniques to solve vehicle routing problems applied to humanitarian response operations. (Las técnicas de optimización para resolver los problemas de enrutamiento de vehículos aplicados a las operaciones de respuesta humanitaria). In this research project mathematical models are proposed in order to optimize short term response operations after a humanitarian disaster, for instance relief distribution. Different optimization techniques are proposed to deal with the resulting NP-Hard problems. Some of the challenges in humanitarian applications are, for instance, different functions to optimize as service-based objective functions which better reflect the strategic goal under the urgency situation, the presence of uncertainties which are not possible to estimate, and specific constraints due to the emergency conditions.
